Zoom Fluke Stick
The Fluke Stick is a soft plastic stick bait that incorporates the features of both a jerkbait and stick bait to create an irresistible bass fishing lure. Zoom's design is based on the popularity of both soft plastic stickbaits and jerkbaits which are some of staples of any bass fishermen's plastic arsenal. The reason for their popularity is simple: soft plastic stickbaits and jerkbaits catch fish, and lots of them. Zoom constructed the Fluke Stick with a stickbait body and jerkbait fork tail resulting in a plastic bait that will work all year round in a wide variety of conditions. Zoom's 6.25-inch Fluke Stick has a forked tail and ribbed body, which work in unison to create dynamic action, even on slack line. When fished weightless with a light-wire hook, the heavy-salt lure has a shimmying, gliding action akin to a stickbait. When twitched, however, it acts much like a Zoom Super Fluke, but more of a rolling, darting, erratic action. It really is two baits in one allowing an angler to change up how it’s fished even during the same cast. For example, one could make a cast and allow it to fall along a piece of cover without imparting any additional action. Then, if there are no takers, the angler can twitch the lure near the surface back to the boat.
Fishing the Fluke Stick
The hybrid lure is a doozy when fished on a drop shot, for the tail slithers back and forth from the pressure of the water alone. Finesse techniques will prove to be an excellent method of employing the Fluke Stick. Other techniques that prove effective are shakey head fishing or wacky rigging. When using a shakey head, we suggest a 1/4oz version for most situations as it will allow the plastic to fully realize its seductive action. Some anglers even like to flip stick baits on shakey heads - it has been quite the producer in areas of prominent underwater vegetation. Wacky rigging the Fluke Stick is a sure-fire winner especially when bass are hanging around docks. Bass often relate to docks for shade and their abundance of life that includes bluegill and shad. The fork tail design helps to more accurately mimic these small forage species and shows the bass something a little different than the typical wacky rigged plastic. Limiting the applications of the Fluke Stick would be silly, however, we've found a few techniques that are best suited for the bait's characteristics.
The Zoom Fluke Stick measures 6.25" in length and is available in a number of excellent colors. 10 per pack.
