Delivering cutting edge fishing reel technology, the Shimano Stradic FK is updates one of the most popular spinning reels with the most advanced features available to date. The new Stradic FK utilizes Shimano’s latest technology while drawing on ways of the past. Hagane cold forged drive gear gear combined with X-Ship provides a smooth, powerful and durable reel. The sleek G-Free body provides a better weight balance to reduce fatigue. Every part has been designed to improve the anglers experience on the water.
Shimano’s Hagane design concept creates a fishing reel that will exceed the demands of hardcore fishing use and hardcore anglers. Hagane is a culmination of built-in toughness and durability. The Hagane Gear provides power from a cold forged drive gear, X-Ship provides power and smooth rotation from large precision cut gears, while Hagane Body affords reel rigidity and impact resistance, along with transforming angler strength into cranking power. The Stradic FK reels – offered in ST-1000HG, ST-25000HG, ST-C3000HG, ST-4000XG and ST-C5000XG models - provide the most demanding anglers with the needed smoothness and durability for freshwater species, including bass, walleye, trout and steelhead, and also for many inshore saltwater pursuits, including redfish, bonefish and sea trout.
“With Hagane, anglers can focus strictly on their passion for fishing, and can rely on Shimano cold-forging and precise gear cutting technology for a spinning reel that will perform as needed,” said Chris Hess with Shimano’s product development team. “Then we bring anglers even more with CoreProtect, providing water resistance without
affecting rotation feeling and sealing key areas to prevent any water intrusion. With the new Stradic FK reels, we’re able to showcase Shimano’s manufacturing capabilities.”
The Stradic FK 1000HG, 2500HG and C3000HG have 6.0:1 gear ratios – the 1000 takes in 31-inches of line per crank while the 2500 and C3000 take in 35-inches. Each with 6.2:1 gear ratios, the 4000 pulls in 39-inches and the C5000 takes in 41-inches per crank. All five reels feature six shielded AR-B bearings plus Shimano’s one-way bearing Power Roller. Each equipped with a cold-forged aluminum spool.
We offer the Shimano Stradic FK Spinning Reels in five models: 1000HG, 2500HG, 3000HG, 4000XG and 5000XG. Please see chart below for more details.
X-Ship provides improved gear durability. By supporting the pinion gear on both ends with bearings, the pinion gear maintains precise alignment with the drive gear. This means the gears will stay in the same position under the heaviest loads. The added benefit is that friction between the spool shaft and gear are eliminated. This will enhance the casting performance of the reel with lighter lures, and allow for longer casts.
The SR-Concept combines the new concept of Reliance with all aspects of the S-Concept: Smooth, Silent and Strong. The Reliance Concept, or R-Concept, means that dreams in reel design are now evolving into reality. The result of the use of the new S-R Concept in design is the development of many exciting new features.
These bearings have been through the same process as our A-RB bearings, but feature shields on both sides of the bearings that reduce the possibility of salt or sand inhibiting the bearing's rotation.
The HAGANE Body is a metal reel body with high rigidity. The body stiffness and impact resistance virtually eliminates body flexing. The result transforms the angler’s actions directly into cranking power. It’s efficiency through strength.
With amazing strength and durability, the HAGANE Gear is at the very heart of the reel. Shimano, through the application of state-of-the-art technologies, gives you the long-lasting smoothness and pleasure that you feel when you first use a reel, over and over again. No cutting work is applied to the teeth of the drive gear. Instead the entire surface is calculated in minute detail by special 3D design and then formed by Shimano’s cold forging technology. The result is assured resilience. It’s the fruit of Shimano’s inexhaustible pursuit for durability; the strength and power of forged metal continues to represent the fundamental concept of Shimano reels.
This feature eliminates wobble during the retrieve by counter balancing the rotor to enhance sensitivity and smoothness. By using computer balancing, an approach similar to car tire balancing, we are able to redistribute the rotor weight to create smooth rotation and eliminate vibrations.
Building upon the successes of Fluidrive, Fluidrive II features a large master gear polished using a wrapping process, increasing the efficiency of the retrieve.
The most obvious component of the Propulsion Line Management System is the new Propulsion spool lip design. Through tens of thousands of casting tests and computer simulations it has been determined that this new spool lip design provides longer casting distances than a standard spool lip design while preventing backlashes and wind knots from forming. It also allows the line to flow off of the spool in smaller loops during the cast which means less slap on the stripper guide. This means longer casts with less friction. The Propulsion spool also utilizes a long stroke design to further enhance the casting distance. Furthermore, there is less bouncing of the line on the spool lip like on a standard spinning spool. Because of the unique shape of the Propulsion spool, the line flows consistently off of the spool. So, with a standard spool, friction alternates from heavy to light as the line slaps the spool lip. This causes backlash and inconsistent line speeds. The Propulsion spool lip provides consistently light friction to overcome these situations
Super Stopper II anti-reverse uses a one-way roller bearing that eliminates back-play. This provides the angler with instant hook setting power.
Aero Wrap II is a worm gear oscillation system with a specially designed pitch to create optimal oscillation speeds for the Propulsion Spool Lip design. It provides uniform line lay and winding shape to prevent loss of energy during the cast while providing longer casts than other oscillation systems. So, casting distance increases with less effort required. (Aero Wrap II is not available on Saros reels, which are equipped with Slow Oscillation.)
These spools provide increased strength and durability over diecast aluminum or graphite spools.
Line twist arising from repeated casting and retrieving is reduced by as much as 50% on reels equipped with the Power Roller line twist reduction system. Power Roller's special grooved design assures the line will be wrapped on the spool to minimize unwanted loops and twists during the cast.
