Shimano Saragosa SW Spinning Reels

Designed for blue water anglers, the Shimano Saragosa SW Spinning Reels utilize the most advanced technology and latest in performance features to meet the demands of battling big game species of fish. A versatile, smooth and powerful offshore spinning reel - the Saragosa SW incorporates Shimano's durable cam oscillation system to deliver precise drag pressure needed when fishing saltwater. Featuring an aluminum frame and graphite rotor the Saragosa SW is lightweight, strong and durable - capable of withstanding years of use in saltwater without so much as a hitch in its performance. Whats more, this reel is loaded with all of the most sought after Shimano technology including X-Ship and X-Tough drag, Paladin gear durability enhancement, propulsion line management system and Super Stopper II Anti-Reverse just to name a few. With maximum drag capacity reaching as much as 44lbs, you can count on the Shimano Saragosa SW Spinning Reels to hold their own when put to the test.

We offer the Shimano Saragosa SW Spinning Reels in four sizes: 5000SW, 6000SW, 8000SW and 10000SW. Please see chart below for reel specs.

Saragosa SW Reel Technology

FluidDrive II

Building upon the successes of Fluidrive, which provides extremely tight tolerances and control in the cutting process, Fluidrive II polishes the gear surface to maximize tooth contact. This increases the efficiency of the retrieve for more power with less effort.

S A-RB Bearings

These bearings have been through the same process as our A-RB bearings, but feature shields on both sides of the bearings that reduce the possibility of salt or sand inhibiting the bearing's rotation.

This feature eliminates wobble during the retrieve by counter balancing the rotor to enhance sensitivity and smoothness. By using computer balancing, an approach similar to car tire balancing, we are able to redistribute the rotor weight to create smooth rotation and eliminate vibrations caused by the reel.

Paladin Gear Durability Enhancement

Paladin Gear Durability Enhancement Spinning Using a special cold forged aluminum drive gear and a hardened brass pinion gear (Stainless Steel pinion gear on Stella SW), reels equipped with the Paladin Gear Durability Enhancement will retain their out-of-the-box smoothness much longer than before. In fact, testing has shown that this combination of metals is more durable than an all-stainless steel drivetrain while maintaining the smoothness that Shimano is famous for.

Propulsion Line Management System

The most obvious component of the Propulsion Line Management System is the new Propulsion spool lip design. Through tens of thousands of casting tests and computer simulations it has been determined that this new spool lip design provides longer casting distances than a standard spool lip design while preventing backlashes and wind knots from forming. It also allows the line to flow off of the spool in smaller loops during the cast which means less slap on the stripper guide. This means longer casts with less friction. The Propulsion spool also utilizes a long stroke design to further enhance the casting distance. Furthermore, there is less bouncing of the line on the spool lip like on a standard spinning spool. Because of the unique shape of the Propulsion spool, the line flows consistently off of the spool. So, with a standard spool, friction alternates from heavy to light as the line slaps the spool lip. This causes backlash and inconsistent line speeds. The Propulsion spool lip provides consistently light friction to overcome these situations.

Cold Forged Aluminum Spool

These spools provide increased strength and durability over diecast aluminum or graphite spools.

Power Roller II

This is an oversized line roller that reduces twist from casting and retrieving and is enhanced with a tapered area on the support to help line get onto the roller quicker.

Super Stopper II

Super Stopper II anti-reverse uses a one-way bearing that eliminates backplay. This provides the angler with instant hooksetting power. In some reels, the Super Stopper II can be turned off to allow backreeling for special techniques and situations.
