A uniquely simple design, Robert's Ranger is a surface iron of sorts designed for surf casting, but also very popular for pelagic species such as yellowtail that will school up along the surface. For years anglers have used Roberts Rangers in the surf off the east coast fishing for anything from stripers to rooster fish and bluefish among many other species. They have become a thing of legend for striper fishing targeting the linesiders schooling out in the whitewater breaks around coastal reefs. The Rangers come with a hook that is suitable for most applications, however, if you plan to go for some more aggressive species such as Wahoo then perhaps a change to a 7/0 size Mustad would be most appropriate.
One of the original designs, the Ranger is Robert's Lures Inc most popular item. Popular colors are greatly dependent on geographic region: East Coast - white/red stripe, West Coast - chrome and white/blue stripe. The unique surface action of the Ranger is effective for a myriad of species around the globe. Giant Trevally in the Pacific is a recent addition to our success story list. (Hint: use the Ranger as a launcher for a dropper, such as a streamer fly. Some use the dropper ahead of the lure; others trail it behind the Ranger.) This Ranger has a body length of 5 7/8 inches, and is rigged with a Mustad #3407 7/0 hook.
We offer the Robert's Rangers in the 3oz size available in many excellent colors.
