Designed by professional bass fisherman John Murray, the Papa Mur Jig is a football style jig for deep water bass fishing. River2Sea enlisted the help of western legend and current Bassmaster Elite Series angler John Murray in order to construct the ultimate tournament football jig. Murray's years of experience fishing deep water often required he employ football jigs to catch fish on offshore structure. When bass get positioned out deep, they commonly school up on key pieces of cover that they will use to ambush easy meals that come within range. Those deeper structure oriented fish are less affected by pressure and finding them can mean you've hit the motherload. The issue with the deeper water structure is that it requires a lure that can cover some water as the fish position differently at times. One of the best ways of pinpointing the fish's location and piquing their interest is with a football jig.
Murray started with designing a hook that combined the best facets of the round bend and the O’Shaughnessy hooks into one that will keep jig trailers straight, yet still holds hooked bass. The reverse bite shape of the River2Sea Papa Mur Jig hook holds trailers securely in place while still maintaining the perfect strike angle for hook penetration. Next, Murray added his favorite football jig head shape to the cross eye line tie and made sure that there was a trailer keeper barb molded into the design so that anglers can be as aggressive as they need to be to make fish strike.
The River2Sea Papa Mur Jig is available in three sizes: 3/8, 5/8 and 7/8oz in many excellent colors all exhibiting the matte painted jig heads River2Sea is famous for.
