Picasso Bait Ball Extreme V Rig
The Picasso Bait Ball Extreme V-Rig is an alternative to the standard umbrella rigs with a wire configuration that keeps the entire wire in one horizontal plane. The V Rig is quite versatile, allowing anglers to fish from shallow to deep simply by changing the size of their jigs heads. The V Rig is constructed using a more subtle wire - it's low vis, yet still extremely strong. The wire gauge enables fishermen to retrieve the baits at any speed and still keep it running true. As you can see in the images above, the V-Rig utilizes screw locks that enable anglers to attach dummy baits in order to create a school of forage mirroring species such as shad, trout and hitch among others.
The key to properly rigging the V-Rig is to use equally weighted jig heads, whether they are light or heavy will determine the sink rate and what depth the lure is best fished at. The lighter the jig heads are more suitable for shallow water fishing - anglers can make the V-Rig operate in exactly the same way a spinnerbait would by keeping the weight of their jig heads low so the lure can be retrieved slowly around shallow water cover. The single V-wire allows this rig to drop very fast, so getting deep in a hurry and staying deep is not a problem with heavier jig heads.
Unlike the standard Picasso V-Rig which utilizes willow leaf blades, the Bait Ball Extreme version is designed for attaching dummy baits. When doing this its important to use slightly heavier jig heads for your hooked baits on the two outside wires. The use of dummy baits increases the drag within the water and therefore requires the jig heads to act like stabilizers - if you use too light of jig heads you'll notice the rig doesn't quite swim properly. We suggest at least a 1/4oz on each side if you really want to fish it shallow and upsize from their depending on desired depths.
