Mustad's revolutionary Slow Death Hooks feature a special kinked shank which generates a truly effective corkscrew presentation. The Slow Death Hooks are designed for what walleye pros call the Slow Death technique where a bottom bouncer weight is added to a main line with a medium length monofilament leader rigged with a live night crawler. This versatile technique combines the attractiveness of live bait with an irresistible action that allows you to present the live bait in places fast blades skip over.
We offer the Mustad Slow Death Hooks - Bulk Pack of 25 hooks in three sizes: 6, 4 and 2 in the bronze color.
This is a versatile, year-round power finesse presentation. It can be fished fast or slow, has the attractiveness of live bait and adds an irresistible action. The unique hook design creates an enticing corkscrew presentation. This is a slow bottom-bouncing presentation technique that lets you present the bait in cracks, crevices and little corners that faster blade presentations skip over.
Attach a bottom-bouncer weight to your main line. Add a 4-6 foot, 10 lb monofilament leader and attach hook. Thread half a night crawler up the hook shank over the hook eye. There should be 1/4" to 1/2" of night crawler hanging off the hook.
Use your trolling motor and keep speeds from 1 mph to almost nothing. The key is to keep just enough speed so the crawler spins. Can also be used effectively when drifting.
