The Luhr Jensen Hot Shot is a hard plastic trolling plug designed for trolling and backtrolling techniques used to target salmon and steelhead. The Hot Shot Trolling Plug from Luhr Jensen is among the most popular steelhead lures ever created and continues to produce for anglers even today. Before "back-trolling" in rivers became an official technique, it was called "Hot Shotting" for the revolutionary lure that would forever alter steelhead fishing. With its compact body, deep-diving bill and quick, wide and aggressive action, the Hot Shot has become a staple of steelhead, trout and salmon anglers alike. Primarily backtrolled for river steelhead and salmon, the smaller sizes are outstanding as trolling lures in lakes or drift-fished lures in streams for trout. For trout, fish them behind a lake troll or flat line them far behind the boat on lakes, cast them cross-current and allow them to swing through likely holding spots on rivers. "Tune" each lure for maximum success by making small adjustments to the screw-eye line attachment (if the lure runs to one side, slightly rotate the top of the screw eye in the opposite direction). In any application, brace yourself for savage strikes. This model, the 30 size, measures 2 5/8" and weighs 1/4oz. The Hot Shot 30 has the ability to reach up to 10 feet in depth.HOT SHOT® All Hot Shot sizes are excellent trolling/back trolling plugs for salm on, steelhead and trout. Larger sizes make great casting lures too. All feature stain less steel split rings, extra-strong VMC® hook, diving lip and a wide-wig action. The Hot Shot 35 size rattles. All can be fine-tuned, which is accomplished by turning the stain less steel screw eye (located on the diving lip) a slight amount. If the lure runs to the right, turn screw eye counter clock wise. If it runs to the left, turn the screw eye clockwise. Remember to always use the round-eyed Duo-Lock Snap that comes with each lure.
