About Livingston Lures
Livingston Lures is committed to bringing fishermen everywhere innovative, technologically advanced lures designed to flat-out catch fish in fresh and saltwater. With an exciting new line of crankbaits, lipless crankbaits, topwater baits, jerkbaits and wakebaits featuring unique sound and vibration technology, Livingston Lures is set to make some real noise across the fishing industry.
Understanding the fish-catching success of Livingston Lures requires an "inside look" at these premium hard baits developed by avid angler and inventor Robert Castaneda. At the heart of each Livingston model is a proprietary internal sound chamber that emits a combination of sounds designed to attract fish and trigger aggressive, reactionary strikes. Advanced rattles inside the chamber send out underwater vibrations as the lures are worked, which are picked up by the lateral lines of predatory gamefish to draw them in for a closer look. But this is just part of the story.
Livingston Lures also feature exclusive electronic sound technology that, when activated by water, periodically emits a "croaking" noise that simulates the natural sound of a panicked baitfish. Not dependent on lure motion, this feature gives Livingston Lures an added sound component that "calls to fish even when the lure is suspending or sitting motionless.
Many new Livingston Lures models add yet another key visual component to trigger strikes from fresh and saltwater gamefish - internal LED lights in the lure's eyes or tail. Activated by water, these lights softly and naturally fade in and out and cycle repeatedly with the electronic baitfish "croaking" noise.
Livingston Lures Pro Randy Howell Wins Bassmaster Classic
There's very little information available regarding Livingston Lure's Prototype Crankbait which played a key role in Randy Howell's Classic victory. What we do know, however, is that the crankbait is part of Livingston Lures new pro series baits which are being designed by legendary lure designer Jerry Rago. Working closely with Livingston's elite class of professional anglers, Rago has painstakingly worked to get every last detail right on the new Pro Series of baits. Widely considered the industry's most creative mind and responsible for a significant number of revolutionary bait technologies, Jerry Rago continues to expand his resume with his long secret crankbaits. Preferring large swimbaits for his own personal fishing, Rago kept his crankbait designs under wraps while he pursued his passion for making big baits. His work is now celebrated among the masses with notable Rago productions such as the SKT Swimmer, BV3D and Live Trout Swimbait. Additionally, his patented design of the Glideator swimbait is the basis of all glide style swimbaits such as the Deps Slide Swimmer and Gancraft Jointed Claw.
His work with Livingston Lures exclusive EBS technology has taken his designs to a completely new level. The very first prototype models reached the anglers the day before the 2014 Bassmaster Classic, but without any time to test them out and understand their action, they were unlikely to be in play for the tournament. That all changed on the final day when eventual winner Randy Howell saw the need for a wider wobble crankbait that could reach depths of about 8-10 feet. After securing a solid limit of 20lbs early on, Howell began sorting through his boxes of lures in search of something that could bump up his weight. Eventually, he stumbled across the Rago Livingston Lures prototype crankbait and realized it fit the situation perfectly. During the remaining time on the final day of the Bassmaster Classic, Howell culled his way up to 29lbs using what is now certain to be his new favorite lure.
With no expected release date in sight, it appears Randy Howell's prototype crankbait will remain his secret weapon in the months to come. We'll be highly anticipating getting our hands on one and will surely have them available for sale on our site as soon as possible.
