Keitech Salty Core Tube
The Keitech Salty Core Tube is a fully body soft plastic tube bait designed for Texas rigging when fishing for bass. The Salty Core Tube, from Keitech Lures, utilizes a new molding technology enabling precision core molding allowing Keitech to produce a full body, solid tube as compared to the standard hollow core tubes we've all become accustomed to. Unique two layers - Salty Core Tube has a two layer construction which combines different materials to make it very unique and efficient. The inside layer (they call it "core") has a super high salt soft plastic material that makes the bait soft and heavy. The core is wrapped in outside layer (We call it "skin") made of low salt hard plastic material that makes the bait very durable. Durable, soft and heavy, the Salty Core Tube is unlike any other flipping bait on the market. The Salty Core is designed for Texas rigging or fishing heavy cover with bigger hooks; it excels where other tubes have fallen short. This tube exhibits a great deal of action when retrieved over rocks, through wood or hopped along the bottom. Many anglers have found this bait to be the ideal skipping bait due to its large surface area and centered weight distribution. Rig the bait weightless with an offset shank EWG hook and it will glide across the water remaining low enough to make its way under overhanging branches or docks.
Keitech Salty Core Tube measures 4.25" in length and weighs 1/2oz. 6 per pack.
The Salty Core Tube is equally well suited for standard flipping and pitching with bullet weights. It's an excellent choice for this application as it holds the hook better and is more durable then your standard tube. Many anglers will flip this bait weightless due to it's 1/2oz weight resulting from the solid internal construction.
Perhaps the most intriguing possibility for this bait is the "reverse" rigging. Thread a 4/0 or 5/0 offset EWG through the back end (skirted) section and continue rigging with a traditional Texas style making sure to bury the hooks point back into the bait (Texpose). When rigged reverse style the bait will fall away from the angler creating a deadly, seductive presentation that is rarely seen by the bass. This can be absolutely killer when bass are tight to cover clinging to shade or they bury themselves under overhanging trees.
