Gamakatsu Finesse Flipping Hooks
The Finesse Flipping Hook is a medium wire straight shank flipping hook that is designed to be used for the flipping, pitching, and punching techniques. These finesse flipping hooks, from Gamakatsu Hooks, are the perfect choice for the lighter flipping situations using finesse plastics. The hook features a small wire keeper that is easy to manipulate to fit any type of plastic bait. In contrast to the traditional heavy wire flipping hooks, the finesse heavy wire hook is intended for lighter fluorocarbon line when flipping. If you've tried the original Heavy Cover Flipping hook with 10-15lb fluorocarbon then you've probably experienced the problem of breaking fish off. The heavy hooks are just too much for the lighter fluorocarbon lines. Gamakatsu has since heard the requests for anglers for this lighter wire flipping hook and delivered an incredible fluorocarbon flipping hook that excels when fishing soft plastic worms and stickbaits with 8-15lb fluorocarbon. Anglers can still snell this hook if they'd like, however, the lighter line won't hold up as well when snelled. So we'd suggest the Trilene or Palomar knots that hold up exceptionally well. We offer the Gamakatsu Finesse Heavy Cover Flipping Hook in four sizes: 1 - 3/0. The hooks come four per pack.
Finesse, Original or Super Heavy Cover Flipping Hook
The differences between the three hooks may at first seem insignificant, but if you want to optimize your tackle performance then it would be a mistake to disregard their intended uses.
- Finesse Heavy Cover: This hook performs best with lighter fluorocarbon line that is preferred by some anglers who need a stealth approach. Fluorocarbon line from 8-15lb test is most suitable. Baits used with this hook may include finesse worms, beaver baits and cricket punching baits.
- Heavy Cover: This hook is able to handle a variety of line sizes from heavy fluorocarbon and monofilament to braided line. The original size is a heavy wire design that can handle strong hooksets and fairly bulky plastics.
- Super Heavy Cover: The Super Heavy Cover version is the best of the family. This hook is best for the heavy braided lines when flipping thick cover with big weights. Heavy braided line can bend out regular wire flipping hooks, therefore its best to use a heavy to extra-heavy wire flipping hook with the super lines.
