G. Loomis NRX Fly Rods

NRX two-hand rods are the culmination of what we've been doing here at G.Loomis since day one! It's all about continual improvements and never settling for just "good enough". It's striving to build the best rod on the planet. Better, more dynamic laminates, resin systems, mandrels, components and graphite know-how is what we're all about. When you think of advancements of graphite rod building technology you think of G.Loomis, but these new NRX rods are nothing like we've ever built before. They feel better, cast better and fish better than any rod we've ever made. We're not talking about a little better... we're saying, so there is absolutely no confusion, that these are the best two-hand fly rods ever built... PERIOD!! There are two color options available for every NRX fly rod we make. Choose the bold, outrageously aggressive matte-black rods with the bright blue wraps or the more traditional "evergreen" rods with complimentary green & silver wraps. They incredibly light and so easy to cast. It's a major breakthrough in rod blank technology coupled with Steve Rajeff's design capability that makes these rods so dramatic.

FLY

A smooth, powerful casting 13-footer rated for an 8/9 Scandi head. At 500 grains it loads this rod perfectly and makes tight narrow loops using the "under hand" cast. At 550 grains, utilizing the Skagit method, it will manage all the necessary tips... full sinking, intermediate or floating. We dual rate them in grams for Europe and grains for the North American market. While it casts the new short Scandi-style heads exceptionally well, it's more than capable of handling a wide variety of casting strokes given the proper lines. A wonderful choice for medium to large rivers. It is capable of casting big, weighted flies if necessary, to get down in those deep pockets where salmon or steelhead rest on their migratory journey. NRX gives you unbelievable power and line control in a rod so light it's insane!

FLY

Dry flies for steelhead at long range? Long leaders and little bombers for Atlantics? Looking for the big rod that does not overwhelm smaller fish, but has what it takes to deliver major casts, this 14' 6/7 is what you have been searching for. It is especially sweet casting mid-belly or long belly lines rated 6/7. For Scandi casting we'd recommend 28 grams/450grains head weight. It has a progressive taper, and does not bottom out if heavier lines are used. Reach out and touch something with this specialty long and light rod. Something with scales.

FLY

As two-hand rods get longer, casting distance increases, that's a given. The beauty of this 14-footer is the NRX dynamics... it's insanely light, has extraordinary power and handles like a rod much shorter. It's totally capable of handling heavier heads and is sneaky quick... a bonus when you want to turn over big, weighted flies. Big winter steelhead won't go far to chase down a fly so you have to put it right in their face making accuracy and line control is everything. Anglers swinging big tube flies on swift Nordic rivers will appreciate the power of this rod. We dual-rate this rod in grams for Europe and grains for the North American market. Under our the standard rating-system this would be a 9/10. This is a great all-around two-hand rod!

This positive action 13', #7/8 (480 grain Scandi- 520 grain Skagit head), loves to push long casts using integrated short-head floating lines such as Windcutter II, Delta Short,or SA Spey Evolution. It really shines using Scandi and Skagit (short/compact length head) and monofilament running line. It will manage all but the most heavily weighted winter patterns, with plenty of backbone to pop a cast through rain and wind. It is ideal rod for NW steelhead, and smaller Atlantic salmon applications. A light rod for all seasons.

When maximum distance is your goal this is the rod you want in your hands. Even in tough conditions... wind, rain and high water, you need a big rod, but one that doesn't wear you out. You need a rod that can cover the water, control the swing and still be manageable. It's hard to imagine a 15-foot rod that can be characterized as manageable, but this one does all that and more. Thanks to NRX technology, this is the biggest, lightest, most powerful two-hander we've made... the big, Mac-Daddy of our NRX two-hand rods. It has unbelievable line control, capable of handling long 45' heads as well as large, air-resistant tube flies on the big rivers of Scandinavia and gives you total coverage in the deep, fast runs these fish call home. Under our the standard rating-system this would be a 10/11. As impress as you may be with our GLX two-handers, this one is so light and powerful it will blow you away!!
