Fringe Tackle Hollow Belly Swimbait
Every so often comes a new product or company that arrives on the scene which makes an impression on even the most experienced lure aficionado. That was the case with Fringe Tackle when we first came across their products introducing anglers to a whole new world of color customization and detail in soft plastic baits. Fringe Tackle is a small fishing tackle company based out of Austin, Texas specializing in uniquely detailed pours that seek to provide not only unfathomable realness, but also venture into new color schemes that may have been overlooked by the majority of anglers and tackle companies. Fringe Tackle owner and swimbait guru Jeff Piil has spent years perfecting his design and pouring process which result in such intricate, imaginative color patterns. Hold one of the Fringe Tackle Hollow Belly Swimbaits in your hand and you'll be blown away by the depth of the color it possesses. It's astounding.
While the name of the swimbait is Hollow Belly, the consistency is actually a full body plastic with a hook pocket. The best comparison in terms of utility would be the 3:16 Mission fish - a full body plastic with a slot for the hook. These baits are not hollow belly tube style like a Basstrix.
In addition to the incredible color patterns, the Hollow Belly Swimbait also displays a very seductive two-way action that features both a tail kick and side to side rolling action. One of the company's primary concepts is the 11:00 tail angle which is a method of quality control to make sure every bait sent to the customer is ready to fish. Essentially, the tails of the Hollow Belly Swimbait must display an obtuse angle when laying on a flat surface.
The 11 reference is made to a clock - the bait lying flat with the head at the 3 and the tail pointing to the 11. In order to achieve the detailed pours and excellent swimming action in one bait, Fringe Tackle found it best to create their swimbait in the hollow belly style with a hook pocket along the belly. Therefore, we've found the best manner of rigging the swimbait utilizes a keel weighted belly hook with screw lock such as the 8/0 Owner Beast Hook with a weight of about 3/8oz to gain the proper plane as it is retrieved through the water. Anglers can also choose to rig the baits with a large jig head such as the Revenge XL Swimbait Head which possess a 7/0 hook on the larger sizes. Fringe Tackle has also began working with a tackle company to produce a custom jig head for their swimbaits, we will offer them once they become available.
Success stories have rolled in from all over the country - tournament bass anglers have already claimed many tournament victories on the Hollow Belly Swimbait and that is sure to continue as the bait becomes more readily available. Freshwater and saltwater fishermen alike will find the combination of detailed colors and great action to be highly effective for any species they choose to target. While many companies choose to label their soft plastics as "extremely durable" Fringe Tackle takes a more realistic approach often admitting their baits get hit hard and therefore the amount of fish they will last for is really indeterminate. We suggest buying a bottle of mend-it to help ease the pain of thrashed baits, but on the bright side, at least they come 3 to the pack.
We offer the Fringe Tackle Hollow Belly Swimbait in the 5" size available in many excellent colors. Quantity - 3 pcs in each pack.
