Engineered with the guidance of BASS Elite Series pro Morizao Shimizu, the Evergreen WH-5 Crankbait is a shallow to mid range crankbait featuring a natural, no-rattle design that provides a subtle approach to crankbait fishing. Shimizu, a Japanese angler known for catching "Big Mama", worked with Evergreen to develop a crankbait that was a bit more understated than the majority of hardbaits on the market today. As a result, the WH-5 (Wild Hunch 5) Crankbait possesses no internal rattles, instead they attract bass with a vibrating action the reverberates throughout the water. While rattles certainly have their place in bass fishing, there's something to be said about the natural water movements that fish detect through their lateral lines. The Evergreen WH-5 Crankbaits appeal to this unique sense and seek to deliver the perfect amount of vibration and water displacement to pique interest of fish.
The number one condition bass fishing pro Morizo Shimizu seeks in his crankbaits is decidedly simple, whether the line is thick or retrieves at high speed: they have to maintain the performance of lure all the time. Strong swimming may sound almost too simple, but the phrase denotes the highest level of trust an angler should be able to place on a lure. The WH-5 has been the source of Shimizu’s tournament victories and continues to build on those strong performances. The repeated TV, magazine and other media coverage of big bass getting caught in a raging fury of waves even during its pre-release prototype phase underscores the fact that the WH-5 is the real deal when it comes to shallow crankbaits. Only those who have repeated the simple act of casting and reeling over and over will understand the absolute power of the WH-5.
The Evergreen WH-5 Crankbait measures 2" in length and weighs 5/16oz with a diving depth of 4-5ft.
