Featuring fluorescent red and chartreuse vinyl skirts, Danielson Skirted Rock Cod Rig can be used effectively with or without bait. Tied with 80-lb test monofilament nylon, this rig has two 7/0 nickel Octopus hooks and a barrel swivel for mainline hook-up and a snap swivel for attaching a sinker. The components are of the highest quality and feature strong, knots at each connection point. Using the rig is easy. Rig up the cut bait of your choice or just let the skirts do the work. Lower the Danielson Skirted Rock Cod Rig to the depth where the school of fish are located, once in the prime depth, slowly raise and lower the rod tip to bring a lifelike action to the skirts. Repeat this motion until you feel a pair of rockfish cling onto the rig. Once you have fish on, remember to wind the line up slowly to prevent losing them.
In California, anglers can have two hooks per line, and while you will see many different styles, the Danielson Skirted Rock Cod Rig is one of the most commonly used and one of the most simple. When using the rig, appropriate tackle considerations include a rod rated in the 15-40lb range. Braided line is an excellent choice for the main line as the fish will only come into contact with the leader. We suggest using torpedo style sinkers ranging from 5oz - 12oz depending on water depth.
The Danielson Rock Cod Rig w/ Vinyl Skirts is available in a single 7/0 hook size with one red skirt and one chartreuse.
