The Daiwa SV103 Casting Reels are a new series of quality baitcasters featuring the shallow SV Free floating spool to launch light lures. Daiwa's SV 103 reels are constructed using a solid aluminum frame and side plate on the gear side which accounts for its strong cranking power. Premium reel technology abounds from the SV103 casting reels including Daiwa's Air Brake System which allows anglers to cast both lightweight and heavier lures with minimal use of the magnets and less reliance upon thumbing the spool. The Air Brakes smoothly set the maximum spool speed and keep the lure speed consistent throughout the cast. It also precisely controls the deceleration rate of spool to prevent birds nest.
Quality materials are also a big focus of Daiwa's new direction - well, kind of a rekindling of their past really. Daiwa doesn't just incorporate good technology, they go back to the basics utilizing A7075 aircraft aluminum for the SV spool. Additionally, the frame and side plate are both very rigid aluminum; lightweight, yet strong. Additional features of the Daiwa SV103 Reels include Ultimate Tournament Carbon Drag with 13.2lbs of max drag. A swept handle with the paddle style knobs provide a secure grip on the reel.
We offer the Daiwa SV103 Casting Reels in four models: SV103H (6.3:1 RH - Gold), SV103HL (6.3:1 LH - Gold), SV103XS (7.9:1 RH - Purple), SV103XSL (7.9:1 LH - Purple).
Shallow SV spools have a wider core—meaning less line is needed on the spool. This helps in casting lighter lures as the spool will start spinning from less force. Additionally, it enables anglers to get a full spool of lighter line without having to spool on 200yds. Now you can use less line, but have it fresh more often.
