Daiwa Procyon EX Spinning Reel

Recently updated for 2015, the new Daiwa Procyon EX Spinning Reels are now magsealed applicable for freshwater and saltwater use. Displaying a significant aesthetic makeover, the Procyon EX have turned a full 180 now exhibiting a JDM look feel that is more in line with Daiwa's current product offerings. Strength is one area in which the EX has drastically improved upon the original Procyon spinning reels now boasting a narrow, rigid aluminum Hardbodyz frame design. While strength is a huge part of the reel's performance, Daiwa also found ways to reduce weight significantly. Measures taken to accomplish a lighter Procyon Reel include an Air Rotor which also delivers more precision and user control. Daiwa's Air Bail, a hollow stainless steel, is another essential ingredient in weight reduction and is free of protrusions that could cause snags.

As mentioned, the Daiwa Procyon EX is magsealed with a waterproof drag which enables anglers to use this spinning reel in both freshwater and saltwater. Other important features of the reel include a rigid, machine cut aluminum handle, precision Digigear digital design and an Advanced Ballistic System spool. Overall the new Daiwa Procyon EX Spinning Reel is a great value starting at only $149.99.

We offer the reel in four models: 2000SH, 2500SH, 3000H and 4000H.

Procyon EX Reel Technology

Magnetic oil is one of a new generation of Nano Fluids that can change density and shape when a magnetic field is applied. It creates an excellent, low-friction seal for a rotating shaft. To produce a low-friction seal that keeps water, dust and grit from entering the reel’s rotor bearing and gearing, magnetic oil is controlled by a magnetic field. The result is a water-tight seal with much lower friction than rubber type seals.

Air Rotor

Made from Zaion carbon composite, the Air Rotor weighs up to 15% less than ordinary rotor designs. Its unique shape reduces unnecessary weight while distributing stress more evenly throughout the rotor for maximum strength.

Digital gear design ensures a perfect mesh between ultra-tough, surface treated alloy drive gear and marine bronze pinion gear for optimized speed, power and durability.

ABS Spool

The ABS spool’s maximized core diameter and reversed taper mean 100% useable line. No “dead” line buried in a deep core. You can fill it with line right up to the edge of the spool lip without fear of tangles. The huge spool diameter lets line flow freely in larger coils and produces less line memory coil. Smaller spool diameter means line flows in tighter coils.
