Trout Fishing Worm

The Berkley Gulp Fat Floating Worm is a soft worm style bait intended for trout fishing applications. The Fat Floating Trout Worm, from Berkley's Gulp line of soft baits, features the patented Gulp formula which is proven to outperform and outlast live bait in field tests conducted by Berkley. The Gulp Fat Floating Trout Worm is shorter and fatter than the original trout worm and can be wacky rigged or used on a traditional floating trout rig. This bait comes in a convenient zipper Gulp half bag. The Berkley Gulp Fat Trout Floating Worm is 2" in length and comes 10 per pack.

How to Fish a Trout Worm

There are many ways to fish trout worms. The most commonly used rigging method is simply using a split shot rig. Attach a split shot bb sinker, size 5 is standard, on and a light leader from 2-4lb fluorocarbon. Place the bb sinker anywhere from six inches to four feet from the hook. When selecting a hook smaller is always better - match the hook size to the bait. Oversized hooks will inhibit the action and cause the worm to sink to the bottom rendering the entire rig useless, as trout prefer to feed up in the water column. For the small Berkley Gulp Fat Floating trout worms an egg hook size 14 or 12 will be suitable. To fish the rig, just cast out and slowly retrieve the line, as slow as you can manage while intermittently twitching the rod subtly.
