Basstrix Paddle Tail Swimbaits

5", 6", 7" & 8" Hollow Paddle Tail Swimbaits

The Basstrix Paddle Tail Swimbait is a hollow body soft plastic swimbait that possesses an ultra-realistic appearance and swimming action. Considered as the swimbait that started the hollow body craze, the Basstrix Paddle Tail continues to be one of the most popular swimbaits across the country. The Paddle Tail craze began several years ago when a good majority of the Elite Series field employed the bait at the Bassmaster Clear Lake event. The event was ultimately won by Steve Kennedy who reported catching several of his key fish on the Basstrix Paddle Tail Swimbait. Since that time the bait has become a mainstay for bass fishermen all over the country. Available in four sizes, 5", 6", 7" and 8", the bait is actually quite slender and will catch bass of all sizes. The profile of the bait matches a wide variety of forage fish all over the country and the color patterns afford any angler the opportunity to match the hatch in their local fishery. The Basstrix Paddle Tail Swimbait can be rigged a number of ways. When fishing open water applications most anglers prefer a swimbait head. In heavier cover or conditions that may be conducive to snags, angler opt for a weighted shank belly hook that will provide a great deal of weedlessness. Recently, this bait has become a favorite for anglers using the Alabama Rig and similar Umbrella Rig lures. The Basstrix Paddletail Swimbait is available in 5" (5pk), 6" (3pk), 7" (3pk) or 8" (2pk) in a wide variety of color options.

The original. Still works after all of these new copycat baits have come out. It's been deadly this Spring on shallow grass flats. Inuseca 1/8 oz screw lock swimbait hook to keep it above the grass.

3 of 5 great action, but flimsy November 10, 2017

This lure was bought in the 8" size.  I rigged this lure with a 12/0 "beast" wide-gap hook, both weighted and unweighted.  This lure likes the 3/4 oz weighted hook.  The swimming action is really friggin amazing and lifelike.  HOWEVER..... the down side is that this rubber is so friggin thin at the top and bottom, my hook was tearing thru horribly, I could only throw it for an hour, then swap it out with a fresh bait because the hooks tore up the bait so badly.  I figured out that if I cut it open a bit more, and melted a crappie jig right where the hook goes thru the bait, it is much more stable.  Then I had to use a lighter to "glue the top and bottom of the lure wher it was torn up by the hook.  Then I could throw it all day.  granted, it has a slight scorch mark on the top n bottom where I melted it back together, but at least I can use it for more than an hour.   Hope this helps you in your decision to buy...
