The Reaction Innovations Big Dippper is a large soft plastic paddletail swimbait designed to mimic the large forage fish bass often feed upon. On the heels of the massive success of the original Skinny Dipper comes a larger, six inch version of the already proven swimbait. While the Skinny Dipper swimbait has many uses, the bait has become synonymous with the topwater swimbait technique in which the bait is retrieved quickly across the water's surface generating a topwater reaction strike. The thin profile and flat back of the original Skinny Dipper bait allow for a weedless presentation that still generates substantial action from the paddletail kick. The larger version of the Skinny Dipper, dubbed the Big Dipper shares the same profile of the original, yet now in the larger size that will keep the smaller fish from competing with the giants stalking the bait. The larger version has a noticeably more pronounced tail kick that differentiates itself from its smaller predecessors. Unlike the original dipper baits that were almost exclusively used for heavy vegetation, the Big Dipper possesses the action desired for open water applications. There are several method of rigging the bait, the choice of which to use depends largely on the intended application. For heavier vegetation, the weedless Texas rigging method will be most suitable and is encouraged by the large hook pocket notched in the belly of the bait. The bait necessitates a large EWG from 6/0-8/0. If you plan on fishing the bait in open water situations, another possible rigging method would be using a large jig head such as the Revenge XL models which offer a long hook shank.
