The Gamakatsu Nautilus Circle Hook is a saltwater circle style hook designed for both live and chunk baits when targeting big game fish. The Nautilus is an aggressive hook. By looks alone the hook is intimidating. Saltwater anglers have found this hook to offer among the highest hook-up ratios when compared to other circle hooks. The design of the hook is similar to the Owner Mutu with a deep bend and hangnail point, however the two hooks aren't quite the same size. Gamakatsu added the Nautilus hook to their product line after the release of the Owner Mutu hook and instead of creating the exact same hook they came out with a hook that's between sizes of Owner's Mutu hook and their light Mutu. Gamakatsu therefore created an excellent complement to the already established Mutu line from Owner. The differences allow anglers to select a more suitable hook for their exact needs.
The circle hook style of the Nautilus is intended to decrease the chance of gut-hooking fishing. Like other circle hooks on the market, the Nautilus has been proven to jaw-hook fish roughly 90% of the time which affords anglers ease of catch and release. The hangnail hook point included on the Nautilus really effective at keeping the fish hooked once they bite, a benefit that will become evident over time.
