The Pacific Catch Shrimp Fly Rigs are designed to attract all varieties of rockfish with or without bait. The components of the Shrimp Fly Rig include a 48" 50lb monofilament leader which starts with a barrel swivel and ends in a barrel swivel to interlock snap. The rig utilizes dual 3/0 hooks dressed with fly style felt, feathers and accented by shiny strands through the center. The components are of the highest quality and feature strong, knots at each connection point. The interlock snap is where weights of differing sizes can be attached depending on the depth of water anglers are fishing. Using the rig is easy. Lower the Shrimp Fly Rig to the depth where the school of fish are located. Slowly raise and lower the rod tip to bring a lifelike action to the flies. Repeat this motion until you feel a pair of rockfish cling onto the rig. Once you have fish on, remember to wind the line up slowly to prevent losing them.
In California, anglers can have two hooks per line, and while you will see many different styles, the Pacific Catch Shrimp Fly Rig is the most commonly used and one of the most simple. When using the rig, appropriate tackle considerations include a rod rated in the 15-40lb range. Braided line is an excellent choice for the main line as the fish will only come into contact with the leader. We suggest using torpedo style sinkers ranging from 5oz - 12oz depending on water depth.
