 Fishing the "float & fly" is a very specialized technique for catching suspended smallies along deep-water ledges and cliffs. It takes a long, relatively light rod to handle the line and float. The light tip is designed to protect whisper-thin monofilament and cast really small hair jigs, the secret to this finesse approach.
