What Are Buzzbaits?
Buzzbaits are topwater bass fishing lures which derive their name from the buzzing sound and water disturbance they generate. Generally speaking, buzzbaits display a wire construction similar to a spinnerbait, however, in place of a blade, buzzbaits utilize a propeller like piece of medal. Operating on the same principles as propulsion propellers, the small prop turns as it displaces water upon retrieval. There are numerous design possibilities including single prop, double prop and inline buzzbaits among countless other variations. Typically, anglers use buzzbaits from summer into fall when chasing big bass that feed atop the water's surface.
