The new IMX Backbounce Rods, or BBR for short, is a series of salmon and steelhead rods designed for the backbounce technique. G. Loomis engineered these rods using the latest in fishing rod technology resulting in a finished product that was lighter, more sensitive and stronger than their IMX predecessors. Comprised of two models of rods, G. Loomis latest IMX Backbounce series of rods offers ideal actions and lengths desired for the technique. A unique technique where fishing from a boat positioned at the head of a good run, you drop a bait rig to the bottom and slowly feed line out as you bounce it along the bottom, back toward the fish in the middle of their holding water. It forces them to react and that's why back-bouncing is so effective. When they engulf the bait and all but jerk the rod out of your hands, sensitivy isn't critical, but more times than not, they just swim up behind the bait, hold it for a moment, crushing the eggs and if you're not on top of things, just let go. You need a rod that is light, powerful and sensitive. Thanks to G. Loomis IMX technology, you get all that in one incredible package.... it's the ultimate in back-bouncing rods!

The release of the new 2014 G. Loomis IMX Rods offers anglers a whole new level of sensitivity and strength in rods that are up to 15% lighter than the original IMX series. With surprising power to weight ratios, the BBR series of salmon and steelhead rods is exactly what you need when it comes to backbounce tehcnique. The G. Loomis IMX BBR Rods are available in two models. Specs and description for each model are listed below.

964C BBR

Back-bouncing for salmon or steelhead is a great technique, but it requires certain skill by the angler. This rod is designed with a powerful tip and butt so that you can put enough weight on the terminal end of your setup to keep the bait on the bottom and bouncing right down "fish alley". It's, many times, a matter of the fish just reacting to the bait and eating it out of spite, but there are times when he's in the right mood and just engulfs it. Those savage bites aren't hard to feel, but you need a rod that is sensitive enough to feel the subtle takes and this IMX beauty has that in spades, with more than enough power to battle the largest salmon.

965C BBR

The great thing about IMX is the recovery speed of the material and how that, in combination with a powerful taper and stiff tip allow the angler to know exactly what's going on with their bait. Recovery is important so that you can keep the slack out of the line, both fishing the rig and fighting the fish. The powerful tip and butt helps you move the bait off the bottom, even in the heaviest current and when it comes to fighting even the largest salmon, this powerhouse will handle just about any oversized surprise.
